Tata Power subsidiary company has setup 5 kW biogas plant in Bihar, India

  • by

Tata Power Renewable Microgrid (TPRMG) a TATA Power subsidiary company wholly owned by TATA has inaugurated his first biogas plant in Kamalpura (Basaitha) village, Muzaffarpur, Bihar for Power Generation of capacity 5kW. The facility utilizes cow manure procured from nearby villages, which is then processed through a bio-digester to generate methane. The methane is then used to drive a specially-designed 5 kW generator to generate electricity, which is fed to the adjoining 30 kW microgrid generating station. Residues are processed to create organic manure for farmers.

TPRMG has constructed the plant in association with Grassroots Energy and commenced operations on National Energy Conservation Day on 14 December 2020.

Mr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, said, “We are constructively moving ahead with our agenda to be the foremost Renewable Energy Company of India and continue to support the nation to achieve its green energy goals. We would like to congratulate our team to complete this project in a record team and be able to commence the operation of this plant on National Energy Conservation Day.

It’s a major achievement for us, Mr. Manoj Gupta, CEO of TP Renewable Microgrid has also commented on it. “We are proud to collaborate with Grassroots Energy for our first biogas plant. We are focusing now lies on developing and commissioning its bio CNG plant in rural part of India.
